How it works

What it is good for

Filling in and marking up forms, signing a contract, tidying a scan, or reordering pages, without installing anything.

Supported files and limits

Files: PDF files (the first 50 pages) and images (JPG, PNG and more, up to 25 MB each).

  • This is a page-level editor: it adds text and marks on top of pages, and does not rewrite text already in a PDF.
  • The saved PDF is created from page images, so its text is not selectable.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Your files and privacy

Your file is processed in your browser, on your own device. It is not uploaded to PDFScanner's servers. PDFScanner counts basic usage, such as which tool was opened, but never sees what is inside your document.

Questions and answers

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?
No. You can cover, mark up and add to a page, but text already in the PDF is part of the page image and cannot be rewritten.
Do I need an account to edit a PDF?
No. Editing, signing and downloading all work as a guest.
