How it works
- Open the scanner and upload your PDF, photos, or use your camera.
- Under Export, choose CSV. Pages are read with text recognition automatically.
- Download the .csv file and open it in a spreadsheet app.
What it is good for
Getting a quick, line-by-line CSV out of a scanned receipt, list or simple table when you don't need full spreadsheet formatting.
Supported files and limits
Files: PDF files, photos and camera captures. Scanned pages are read in English.
- This reads plain text, one line per CSV row -- it does not detect table columns. For real column detection from a digital PDF's tables, use PDF to Excel instead.
- Text recognition accuracy depends on scan quality: a sharp, well-lit, straight page reads best.
- English only for now.
Your files and privacy
Your file is processed in your browser, on your own device. It is not uploaded to PDFScanner's servers. PDFScanner counts basic usage, such as which tool was opened, but never sees what is inside your document. The text engine is served from PDFScanner itself, not a third-party service.
Questions and answers
- Does this detect table columns?
- No. Each line of recognised text becomes one CSV row. For real column detection from a digital PDF's tables, use PDF to Excel instead.
- Can I open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets?
- Yes. It's a genuine, correctly-escaped CSV file that opens in any spreadsheet app.
